A Little History ...
In 1943, Weston resident Austin Sherman Hale created a rather informal weekly letter, “Here and There Because We Care”, to send overseas to the 500+ boys, 9 girls and three Weston teachers who served in World War II.
Letters from around the world came back to Weston in appreciation of this connection to home. The town news and reports of high school sports gave an indescribable “boost” to these boys and girls of whom had only just graduated.
Weston parents and students turned out weekly to address and stuff envelopes and, when the war was over, the “Boosters” arranged a community celebration to honor Weston’s young veterans upon their return.
More than seventy years later, Weston Boosters continues to support its youth by funding both co-curricular activities and college scholarships in honor of those students and athletes who gave their lives for this country. We hope you will help us continue the tradition by supporting the education our students receive beyond the classroom.
